Countdown to Diwali 2012, ONE DAY to go, although I had delays in my preparation schedule, I am happy to report that all preparations are on track and I am looking forward to tomorrow-Diwali Diwali Day. My shrine is ready for my early morning prayer and the necessary decorations are also in place for the morning

Diwali-the festival of lights is all about cleansing ones home and ones inner self, in preparation for “Mother Luxmis” (goddess of wealth and prosperity) visit to shower one and all with her blessings.  On Diwali day itself, the “Dwaar” (doorway) to homes are bedecked with magnificent “Torans” (fancy garlands), which are made with various embellishments in rich and bright colours.

THORANS

Rangoli is a form of art carried out by the females of the household and they use various coloured powders,  different types of flours, grains and flowers to create the most intricate, colourful and amazing  pieces of art at the entrance to one’s home. These torans and the rangoli (artwork) at the entrance to one’s home is what creates the atmosphere of Diwali and makes friends and family feel welcome.
